A Message From Amy Weiseman
I am participating in Habitat for Humanity Greater Portland’s annual Women Build event. This program is more than just a construction project—it’s about empowering women to take the lead in building a foundation for their families. I’ll be joining a team of local women during the month of May, to help build a safe, affordable home for a local family.
Did you know that over 70% of Habitat homeowners are women? I am participating because I believe every woman deserves the strength and stability that comes with owning her own home. I recall buying my first home, and how wonderful it felt. I was fortunate enough to have assistance from my mother for the down payment; and am very aware many women do not have that as an option.
Part of the event is to help with fundraising, and I’ve set a personal goal to raise $1,000—which goes directly to materials needed to build much needed homes here in Maine.
Please consider making a donation to help me reach my goal. Every dollar makes a difference—my plan is to match each dollar I am able to fundraise from others.
Thank you so much for your support and helping a neighbor build a foundation for a better life. With gratitude, Amy
In Support of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland partners with low-income families to provide them safe, affordable, and decent housing. This is accomplished through two primary programs. In the homeownership program, families earn a low-interest mortgage as we build them new homes from the ground up using volunteer labor. Our Critical Home Repair program provides affordable home repairs to make the client's home warmer, safe, or drier.
